In her own words, she wrote, “Never seen anyone so strong… even after two major surgeries, you were still trying to be funny as nothing happened, even in your lowest you still cracked jokes!”

Mr Ibu’s Illness History

The saga surrounding Mr. Ibu’s illness began in 2020, a year marked by a startling revelation from the popular actor. He claimed that he had fallen victim to poisoning, suggesting that his own “village people” were behind the act.

Contrary to initial reports that pointed to an incident at an event in Abuja as the source of his poisoning, Mr. Ibu clarified the details of his harrowing experience. He revealed that the attack on his life had actually occurred in his hometown, Nkanu West, located in Enugu State.

According to him, “I was poisoned, but not at an entertainment event in Abuja. I was poisoned in my hometown, and then I journeyed to Abuja, where the poison affected me and grounded me. At a point, I almost gave up, but God said; no, you are not going to give up. And here I am. I have been discharged”.

“I don’t take alcohol up till now. Some people say I don’t take Alcohol yet my stomach is big, The belly is an idiot. It was after they gave me that poison. It was bigger than this before. If you had seen it, it was like a foam. I took medicine and it began to come down. Before I wasn’t able to see my legs.

They took me to Nnewi, saying we had a show. They held me there and beat me up. They beat me and then inserted poison in my mouth and ran away, leaving me there. It was my boys and dancers that came and carried me home. It was in Enugu that I woke up. God said no, you are not going yet.” he said

On Wednesday 18th of October, 2023, He posted on his Instagram page about his recent illness development and were soliciting for prayers and support from all his fans

According to the video: Mr. Ibu said “I have been down for so many weeks. All I am hoping for Is your prayers and assistance, as I speak to you I am still lying down at the hospital. The medical director of this hospital said that the best solution is in case his new idea doesn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg.

“Just see me, if they cut off my leg where will I go from here? Please, be in prayers for me, talk to God Almighty, I don’t want my leg to be cut off, please. Thank you so much, God bless,” the actor said.

Also in the same video, His daughter was seen appealing to the general public to come for Daddy’s aid.

She said, “As a family, we want to appeal that at this point, people should come to Daddy’s aid and rescue; for the past two weeks, Daddy has been very down, so we took him to the hospital. I have been sorting the bills, thinking I can do it alone. We have been doing everything humanly possible; as a family, we felt it was something we could do on our own for him to be fine, but he is not getting any better.

“He is not getting better; some days, it seems as if he is getting better; some days, it seems like it is getting worse. We are at one of the best private medical facilities in Lagos, and they want to refer us to another hospital because he is not getting better here.”
