The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has voiced deep concern over the increasing rejection of corps members by employers in the North-East region.
Mr. Garinvwa Ishaya, the NYSC Director overseeing the zone, brought attention to this issue during a one-day Corps Employers’ Forum held on Monday in Yola.
Under the theme “Deepening Corps Employers Participation towards Improved Welfare And Security of Corps Members,” Ishaya stressed that the ongoing trend is disheartening for both the corps members and the NYSC program itself. He emphasized the importance of providing a conducive environment for corps members in their places of primary assignment, allowing them to contribute to the nation’s social and economic development.
“The scheme was established to add value to our socio-economic development as a nation and it has made tremendous impact in further uniting the country.
“We passionately appeal to the employers to always accept corps members deployed to their organizstions for prosperity of the scheme and the nation at large.
