A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an order to compel the appearance of Azeez Fashola, famously known as Naira Marley, in connection with ongoing cybercrime-related charges.
Naira Marley, currently in police custody due to his alleged involvement in the death of fellow hip-hop artist Ifeoluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, is also facing charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). These charges accuse him of conspiring to use a stolen credit card and possessing a counterfeit credit card.

During the recent court proceedings, Naira Marley was notably absent. His legal counsel, Olalekan Ojo SAN, informed the court that his client had voluntarily surrendered himself for questioning regarding Mohbad’s tragic death, leading to his detention by the police. Ojo urged the court to issue a reproduction warrant, ensuring Naira Marley’s presence on the next adjourned court date.
The EFCC’s prosecuting counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, did not oppose the request and confirmed that Naira Marley was in police custody. She assured the court that efforts were underway to secure his attendance at the upcoming court session.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo adjourned the case until October 30, 2023, and mandated the issuance of a reproduction warrant for Naira Marley’s presence in court, should he still be in police custody on that day. The legal saga surrounding the hip-hop sensation continues to captivate public attention.
