The Supreme Court has fixed December 15 for judgment in the appeals filed by the Federal Government and detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The decision came on October 5, 2023, after the lawyers for the Federal Government, Tijani Gazali (SAN), and Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), made a final submission to the court.
The Federal Government wants the Supreme Court to change a ruling made by the Court of Appeal. That ruling that quashed the treasonble felony levelled against the Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal Goverment and mandated he should be released on a count that he was unlawfully brought back to the country after he jumped bail
On the other side, Nnamdi Kanu will be appealing to the court to Keep the Court of Appeal’s decision and get rid of the order that stopped it from happening
Recalled that the Court of Appeal in Abuja said on October 13, 2022, that Kanu should be released from jail. They also said that a 15-count terrorism charge against him should be dropped. But ever since them they federal ggoverment has objected the ruling by the applelate court
